Gregg Stone - Watercolor

Gregg Stone resides in southern Orange County with a longstanding artistic career in watercolor, gouache, ink, and airbrush.  After graduating from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena with a bachelor's degree in fine arts (BFA) in 1978, Stone became a successful freelance illustrator for Brentwood Publishing Co. and airbrush artist for Micro West in Orange County.  His current work in mixed-media paintings blend cultural and architectural treasures along the byways of border region Hispanic communities into painterly narratives of everyday street life.  In a style that he describes as "Modern Realism", his travels to Cuba further expanded his focus on the physical environment and the social and political realities of people he came to admire for their resiliency and vitality.

Stone is a recognized authority among artists as an experienced competition judge in both the United States and Mexico and a former Art Director for Orange Coast College Media Center. Stone is also a 2002 award-winning, signature member of the San Diego Watercolor Society and first-place winner in the San Diego Museum of Arts Artist Guild in 2003.
